Parkrose School District Safety Information
To ensure the safety of our students and staff all buildings practice the following drills:
- Lock In/Lock Out Drills - a drill to simulate a situation where a potentially dangerous person or dangerous situation is inside the building (Lock In), or if there is a dangerous situation outside of the building in the local community (Lock Out)
- Fire Drills
- Earthquake Drills
Standard Building Equipment:
- Security Cameras and Monitors
- Fire Safety Alarm and Equipment
- Two Way Radios
- Intercom System
- All external doors remain locked at all times, with the exception of the main entrance
- Staff and Visitor Identification Badges
- Alarm System
Bond Safety and Security Enhancements:
- More strategically positioned cameras
- Cameras on buses
- Card lock doors
- Panic button for Lock In/Out situations
- New safety enhanced windows - sturdy, tinted, with breakout feature for emergencies, and better views of the campus from inside the building
- New safety enhanced doors
Parkrose Staff and Administration actively participate on the following committees to ensure our Safety Protocols are up to date:
- We are members of East Multnomah County's School Emergency Response and Recovery Alliance(SERRA)
- Each building is required to convene a Safety Committee that meets monthly
- A District Climate Committee composed of Parkrose School District’s school counselors and school psychologists. The Climate Committee is involved in ongoing training and review of crisis response activities through the School Mobilization and Response Training program.
